but of course, psp is the undoubtful winner because it has ps2 graphics. And in the times we live in, graphics are everything. While DS has 2 screens, 2 FUCKING SCREENS. thats gotta be the most retarded concept since n64 went cartridges. Seriously, nintendo's days ended at the end of the SNES era. Sony will totally win this race, by a mile.

People should just buy what they want and not have to justify their purchase through ridiculous elitism.

I hope both of them fail miserably. The DS is a shitty gimmick and the PSP is a power-hungry behemoth (and who the hell decided to put an analog stick on a portable?).
I don't know much about what the PSP will have to offer when it launches stateside, but after almost two months of being out, the best the DS has is a multiplayer port of Mario 64 and some artsy dating sim by Sega...pretty meager offerings for such a highly-anticipated system. Both were also launch titles. For the near future, we have yet another Wario Ware game, a Sonic game, and an unknown Castlevania game. *yawn*

graphics is like the same as the ps1 or something like that. and the ps1 sucked ass. i have a ds and it is very nice, my battery life is around 4-6 hours. once they get better games our for it, it will kick ass.

No way dude. The Gensis is way better. SNES's graphics are like watching an episode of Barney.
SNES Mortal Kombat didn't even have blood, fag.

yes it did u stickfuck. even if they didnt, snes had the alltime famous splatterhouse. but coming back on topic with DS vs PSP, add the option to get both. Personally, I always liked sony and this new portable gaming system has potential to get somewhere. An optical unit will still pull more power than a cartridge-based. Eventually, even if you're very careful, those disks will get scratched sooner or later.
The Nintendo DS also looks cool with a touch-pad 3in LCD (with an aditional 3in LCD) and wireless gaming. Is it really true it can produce better 3D Images than N64? (so it can, but still on a 3in LCD you won't really see the difference).
By getting both systems (I haven't gotten yet), I will be able to compare and contrast the features and appeal of both systems. Games are always an issue, as some games come out for this system, while others are multi-platform. Also, who cares about battery life when you have two systems each lasting about 2-3 hours each? (Unless you have no life, that is plenty). I can see wireless gaming to be a strain on the batteries though and a potential for problems as well. Where would you go to play and why would it be better than say a CS Lan party?

Yeah, but I'm going to take my Super Gameboy and just add the blood and It'll still look better than Genesis MK, you fucktard. Genesis doesn't even have separate animations for Scorpion and Subzero, lol.
Or, I'll just play Street Fighter II, and fuck that ripoff. Oh is that out for Genesis, yet? :-p
(The real fun will be seeing the X-Box2 v. PS3, v. Nintendo's Whatever wars)

heard the PSP uses a spline technology graphics (or something like that).
I'm not sure if I can explain this well but, its like, lets say you have a 3D ball stored in the games memory. In normal 3D graphics, you would have to record every point on that ball. But because the number of points you record is finite, if you zoom in close enough, you will be able to see the little points.
But with the PSP, all it records is 2 points and a curve, and the game calculates and renders the curve. So if you zoom in closer, it re-calculates the curve, so you never have that rough-edged effect. So in a way, its kind of like having infinite resolution.

Splines have been supported in some graphics cards for a while, so I wouldn't be surprised if PSP can use them too.
Of course, internally everything is converted to polygons. And I'd be very surprised if splines were used on a large scale by the PSP.

i thought the psp media was in little cases, so you wouldn't have to worry about scratching them
I've seen a few psp games and they do NOT have ps2 graphics, not by a long show. I'd say that they're more like something in between the ps1 and ps2.

In the discussion about PSP vs DS. The DS is what Nintendo wants to do. Its a "Hey lets experiment!"
The SP and GBA were safety systems. They worked well and raked in a large chunk of change.
The PSP is sonys way of throwing there hat into the ring and saying "I want some quick cash too!" This is there safety.
The analog on PSP is showing through that they are used to the analog too much.
If you are skilled enough to keep five cans in the little trap thing without touching them then you've just mastered tetris

Why does everyone say that the touch screen is a gimmic? What about the ability to play movies and music on the PSP, isn't that just a gimmic?

DS wins in all ways.
Is is so exsreamly fun to tuch the screen to play!
And it has great music and good graphics.
its sad that the gameindustry is selling on how many pixels the game or the console can have on the screen, and fail at gameplay. And you seems to be one of the grapichis whores, damm you!

im not sold on either yet. the psp seems like it has a chance but ill wait untill i see what software comes out. right now psp has nothing i want(mgs card game...wtf konami) ds has mario 64 and soon castlevania. for me the scales are only slightly tilted because i care about games not watching movies on a tiny screen.
I would buy a PSP, cause the games look awesome, but I'm really concerned with its reliability and durability. Remember what happened with everyone's PS2's? I don't want to buy something only to have it break like ddr dance pads always do after 2 months.
I have played the DS. Te touchpad is kinda odd, but I suppose it takes time to get used to it. Mario 64 DS wasn't too bad.
As for the PSP, no idea et, but if the PSP were to sell like hotcakes, I might be tempted to get one. As it stands, I'm gonna get a DS. When there's more games for it.
And now, the flamethrower.
*burns the thread with napalm.

If the PSP played Playstation games, it would have to be at least the size of a CD.
And the DS isn't backwards compatible with GB/GBC, which sucks balls.
Lawnmower will WIN! It can cut grass, look manly, and will distroy the genitals of anyone who fucks it!
Mum is LAME!!!!! She can't accept PETROL as fuel! She has to eat alot. LAWNMOWER!!!!1!!!ONE!!
FFS. They're both separate systems. The DS seems to be more a 'mature gamer' product (Aimed at the market who won't touch the GCN, perhaps?) and the PSP is an 'everyman' device... Like all Sony products they're not content to let it stand on its merits as a gaming device, they've got to add fappery. It's supposed to get parents to buy it for their kids, teens and young adults to buy it for all sorts of amusement.
DS has innovation on its side. If it game out with games nice and quick it could easily win this struggle.

Is it better when you sniff drugs or inject them with a needle? That pretty much explains DS vs. PSP.
Doesn't matter what you have when you've got games on the go... that suck horribly and make you look like a dick. Drugs, however, are totally better for those long car trips.
