why isn't there more interactive porno in the west?

Because when you actually sit down and play one, they're really rather incredibly boring.

Ok, let's seperate the two.  We have "imported and localized or at least fan translated H games" and we have "American made adult games."  While the first may be boring, repetetive, long, etc, they are generally not as shittastic as US adult games.  If you can even find one, they tend to be sold in swap meets next to porno CDs, and few have ever warranted taking a look.  Most are Sega CD quality "photorealistic" graphics with maybe 5 different sex options, or they're badly rendered model sex.  Japan has these too, but it has that and more.  We just have... well, Leisure Suit Larry is notable, but it's more of a comedy than fappable material.  So overall, the US has failed.  Hentai games may not seem like much, but at least you can call it art to some extent.

Also, a big problem is the prices.  I downloaded Sexy Beach 2 and it was decent, it's basically DoA:XV with no game content and a fully manuverable camera.  It had 6 girls, a few dozen swimsuits to choose from, and practically nothing else.  But stores charge $80 for it.  Fuckin' A, the game wasn't even complete, they released the remaining swimsuits and additional characters in an expansion pack.  The fact is you can get a hard on from things other than hentai games.

Prices ain't so bad depending on what games you get and where you get it.  Some companies like Alicesoft and Crowd offer older games at much lower MSRPs and lots of popular games are upgraded to lower priced DVD versions nowadays.  The real problem is finding a decent shop.  It ain't so bad if you live in Japan (discounts aplenty) but outside?  Ugh.

Ehhh, I downloaded one called Secret Wives Club and it was awful.  Point is, don't spend money on these... download if you must try it :P

There are a few good H games out there, but as a rule they never get translated into English, probably because the licensing and conversion would cost too much. Feh.

And how many PC fan translations ever went anywhere? I can count the number of actually active groups on one hand, and most of them are proceeding at a glacial pace.
