Final Fantasy XI. Teacher. Mother. Secret lover.

I still think that if it didnt have the FF name, this game would be a flop.  When i look back at the time i played, wasn't worth it.

FFXI needs something else.  Sure, theres a really good story going on in it, but i've been playing for a year and i've only touched the surface... having to be high leveled and needing a ton of robot slaves (because real people aren't sufficient) to get to the story sucks.  FF games have mini games alot of time, and FFXI needs just that.  Chocobo racing would be a nice addition; Ballista makes the game VERY fun too, but it's hard to get people to participate unless you want to face level 75s when you're only a 40 looking for some fun and end up getting ass-raped.

FFXI is to team based for its own good.  Anything after level 30 needs a party or an alliance.  Anything that conned "even match" could kill anything if taken solo, hell at later levels "easy prey" would result in death.  Also some quest you had to be a certian level or you would be killed fast.  Or if you had a higher level helping, any difficulty the quest gave you was taken away.  Any quest that wasn't was basickly a fetch quest.  Even beastmaster, who everyone clamied was the solo class, had to party later on.  If you have a quest (like the level cap quest) one dick can ruin your day.

Plus the character creation is to rigid.  5 races with no changing on the stats doesnt help. Also the races (except for hume) were heavily geared to certian jobs.  Sure there were items to change stats but there are so few and everyone gets the certian one that helps them, if they can afford them.  The subjob system could of been great but only a few combos work.  Mage/fighter types sucked and vice versa.  So the only diffenerce in other people is how much gil they had and their race.  If they didnt have the right equipment that everyone on that job and level is suppose to have, they are gimped.

This i think was just me but, leveling after 40 is just a pain or a snooze fest.  Everything is figured out so you fight the same thing over and over agian with minimum risk.  Most of your team mates (or myself) could just "phone it in."  Only fun I had was messing around and goofing off, and i can do that anywhere.

The story wasn't grabbing me either.  It seemed like a generic rpg story. You and every other PC(good) agianst them (evil).  The twist they added was either expected or just plain sucked.
And all you get is a rank 10 and a flag for your house.  Thats It!

At level 64, it was a job instead of an adventure.  The only time I had fun with it was with my friends at the start.  They found out the short commings of this game early on.  I should of quit when they quit. This game robbed more than my money, it robbed my time.

...the point of all video games is to suck up your time isint it?
The question is if your having fun in exchange. I enjoy the challenge personally. some dont, but its your perogative to have fun how best you see fit.
Some people play ffxi like their going to get something.
Newsflash: the only reward is looking uber in front of other players and being able to brag that you defeated one of the hardest online games out there.

If you want more than self gratification, stop playing videogames.  If your not enjoying a game (any game) theres no point to playing.

I Disagree with 2.
FF or not this is a very interesting MMORPG with thousands of ways to spend your time once you're in.
Ive been lower than lvl30 for a year now, no hurry :P no 3-hours-waiting for a party to fight...leveling up is something to motivate you with access to more places/events, nothing else.

Minigames? In example, in like the fishing craft to make some gil (equip is not free :P). Never liked fishing games but this craft is really catchy. Date events are also like minigames...the winter event had all the fun.

Well ^^ I like this game..in a deeper way my crappy English can express...I just can say that playing this game pre-lvl30 is just fun...but after that playing is challenging and FUN.

I had enough fun to keep my intrest till level 30 Thf (my first job btw) and then I leveled to a 30 blm.  The thf tok me some 6 months to get to 30 and the Blm only took me 3 weekends.  I really coulding solo anything for any exp with the Thf, which ia a pain, and I spent most of my time farming, not fun.

It was fun back when you could wait for a monster to pop (camp) and be the only one doing it.  Then the bots started to show up in droves.  I was able to stay ahead for awhile but then they managed to level past anything in the zone that I could pull to kill them.

Next came the gil selling from all the people running the bots.  Prices increased on good items dispite the flood from boters.  The final nail in the games coffin was the Dec 9 update.  The new tax system lowered prices for awhile but then the sellers did some math and found out they could still make the same profit on an item if they raised the price some amount.

It just had to many people working the system and SE not doing anything good to stop it.
