Almost managed to beat this game. Almost! It was my first try (I'd played just once or twice before, to the spinning boss the last time - that's the end of the dinosaur insides bit - but gave up instead of getting killed off) so yes, this game is = lol easy. Exceptions: Last two bosses, and you have to fight off the fourth level boss twice - he (?) is really the hardest of the lot and I lost out on 7 lives the first time I met him. Ow! That didn't leave me with much to take on (what I assume is) the Memory Cave, even though I ran about the cave to pick up 100 candies for an extra life before the final encounter. Did the bosses in reverse order. Got thumped by the final boss who I've got figured out, but didn't have a chance to beat on account of starting with a laughable two lives.
Problems? The minigames are fun but you get used to them over time and then you start to get sick of seeing them (still can't blow up the helicopter balloon though). Biggest issue, though, is the learning curve. It's REALLY smooth sailing throughout the whole game until you run into that final gauntlet - if I had a hand in designing the game I'd make the Continue option drop you off with your full life/item count back at the Memory Cave at the very earliest, instead of taking you all the way back to the Twilight Jungle.
Love the game, it just gets a wee bit repetitive for me after a while - but I still love it. Great music, diverse and engaging graphics with hillarious characters, cutscenes and set pieces (lol @ giant GojiraBonk smashing up buildings), great level names and finally - no slowdown. At all. Really. Hudson did a great job with this one and, I assume, the sequel as well (which is sadly an import only - had my eye on a copy for a while, gonna pick it up).
