After having the game sit in my GBA bag for over two years, I finally picked it up again and beat Trainer Red. And it was very underwhelming. I had only two level 75~ Pokemon (Ferilagatr and Lugia) and the rest were 30 or below. All of Red's Pokemon were at level 73 or above.

Pokemon Gold sucks. Get Pokemon Ruby or somethin'.
Actually, there are some people who would say the opposite by stating that Ruby/Sapphire is a downgrade from the RPG elements in Gold/Silver/Crystal. eg. you aren't waiting for Friday to come to go to a special event/ get a special item in Ruby/Sapphire.

I thought Pokemon G/S/C was pretty good myself. It had two worlds (Neat how R/B/G/Y's world repeated, as did all it's Pokemon) to explore, and 250 pokemon. The time feature was interesting (Although pretty hard to deal with if you have insomnia), and overall it was a really good game. Miltank rocks out

I really think Gold was one of my most enjoyable game experiences ever. I was a pokemon fanatic when it came out in japan, and I pooled together some christmas money one year and imported it 10 months before it was released here. Was quite an experience playing through in japanese, missed a bunch of stuff I didn't catch until I found some unofficial translation/strategy guide. Going through the old world again afterwards and seeing the new looks for the trainers and fighting Red at the end was breathtaking for me then.
Now I need to play it again. Japanese one, mind you.

i wish they would make a fucking hard mode for pokemon. Everytime I start playing that game again (whatever version) it always annoys me how easy that game is. Well until you get to the elite 4, that's a lil bit of a bitch
