due to hazardous parts inside the chocolate eggs? I ask because I saw some in my local Market Basket. I got two, one of them is a complete monkey figurine, the other is a viking character with a metal toy pole, which on one end has a viking hat, so you have to put it in the hole in his head. So are they illegal?

I don't live there, so I wouldn't have a clue.

As far as I know, they aren't illegal. They are the shit though, among the best chocolate there is.
You fail OP, the toys are in a plastic container within the kinder chocolate. You can't accidentally impale your tongue on a viking spike.
That said, Americans are typically retarded and would somehow probably find a way to injure themselves with said confection, then sue the maker and have it outlawed.

i'm sure lot of them already suffocated to death trying to eat the container.

There must be something in America's water that makes them truly retarded. My mum gave me my first Kinder Surprise when I was 4 and I had no problems eating the egg then assembling the toy found inside the container without any parental assistance.

water can't be the only reason!
see, i suppose they can open a beer can or bottle without their ears bleeding from intense mind work.
or that they are able to open a door without arming themselves.
why is that when it's about kinder i won't even be astonished if the container explode ?!
i'm surprised that there is no studies about death by kinder in the us! (that's the 4th cause of death right after sock accident!)
Oh man I loved Kinder Eggs! We'd get them all the time in England! And a couple years ago a friend visited somewhere in Europe and brought back some Kinder Eggs for us!
As for being banned in America, I dunno, but you sure as hell don't see them often!
