if you can't stand gargeling (especially salt water, I know I can't), honey is definitley the best.
Receipe i've always used is chop off an onion, stick it in a jar of honey overnight (I use large chunks, about the size of a quater, but i'm sure any size onion will work. Just make sure you have plenty), and in the morning, spoon it out and eat as much as you can stand.
have some water or juice nearby to rinse it all down though.

I've had a REALLY bad soar throat for the last week and going into tomorow. It sucks, gargling salt water works great but I'm still in pain
It's nearly SIX MONTHS since the OP announced his 'EXTRAMLY' (whatever that is) SORE throat. I think it's probably cleared up by now... either that or he died of it.
