Interesting question. Of course, evidence against aspartame and saccrin is weak at best. However, for a diabetic (or anyone really) it can cause hypoglycemia, which will make you hungry, which will defeat the purpose. I still hold that nothing beats good ol' sugar. If you're worried about calories then stop being a pansy and control your intake.

dangerous for some people who cannot break it down (metabolize it). My reason to stop drinking soft drinks is because it contain preservatives (Sodium benzoate, commonly)

diabets use them as a substitute for sugar. They should know how to control their diets.

Because most people perceive it as tasting sweet and it works fairly well in things like soft drinks and yogurt.

aspartame makes you very thirsty, so it kinda defeats the purpose of gettign a drink in the first place.
Take your own advice and do some fucking research. There's a lot of controversial science regarding ancient humans' lifespans being a hell of a lot longer than current humans'.
Regardless, we might be living longer than, say, 100 years ago, but have you're neglecting the fact that we're much SICKER than 100 years ago. Sure, medical technology is rapidly advancing, but no one can afford it.
And who were these ancient humans who had no modern medicine but lived longer than the 85+ years average for the First World in the present day? Source, please?

Use Splenda. They say the stuff in the pink packs(sacharine) gives you cancer, and equal(aspartame, in blue packs) makes you hungrier, but they haven't found out what's wrong with splenda yet. ^__^ >>3
>.> Using sugar substitutes can't cause hypoglycemia... unless it's the only thing you eat is pure sugar substitute. Hypoglycemia is low blood sugar, and all carbs become bloodsugar. For diabetics it's best to have only complex carbs that become blood sugar slowly and more evenly than sugar which shoots straight into your system and puts you in a coma. >>11
Sacharine is the stuff they say causes cancer. They don't say it about the other stuff yet. >>13
