Someone posted a link (http//www.amazon.com/... to bento box recipes. I cannot afford the book, but want the recipes. Anyone know where to find some?

I was looking for a bento box, it couldn't be pinku (thats japanese for pink) or any girl color. It had to be of 2 or more kotoba (thats japanese for 2 compartments) and had be be chibi (small) sized. And had to be really kawaii (cute). Also It had to be about 10-20 bux. And the seller had to post pics of it first (i wanted to make shure it was kawaii [cute]). And it would have been nice if it came with matching chopstick holder (WITH chopsticks). OH! and it CANNOT have had any cartoon pictures, or been made out of plastic. It has to be made of ceramic, or something like that. Also it would have been nice if it was made in japan. and not in china or corea (korea) or whatever. I had found a bento box similar to the one im describing in e-bay, but it was 1 kotoba, and i didnt want my gohan (rice) to touch my other things (it can get wet and i would not like that, plus 2 compartments looks more kawaii).

Thanks to this book, I finally found my chibi kawaii 2 kotoba bento box and my gohan is not wet. Thanks you book!

A lot of bento box food is fairly basic: rice, some meat and/or fish, vegetables, maybe something else as a side or garnish.  I don't see why you couldn't use basic steamed or vinegared rice; for effect and color, add some nori flakes and/or shaved bonito and an umeboshi (pickled plum).  You can make a basic grilled fish filet piece, like salmon, whitefish, mackerel, swordfish, tuna, whatever you like using a marinade of soy sauce, a bit of pepper, some mirin or sake, and dashi broth.  After marinating the fish, you can grill it up, and for an added touch, you can fool around with making a reduction out of the leftover marinade.  Never tried it myself, but in theory, it should work.

You can buy kimchi and other pickled vegetables at Asian markets.  I like it really red and spicy... I am so totally craving the stuff now.

I'll see what else can be dug up, but I might just buy that book...

I KNO RLY!  How dare people discuss Japanese food in a thread where people specifically geared towards Japanese food, having only the intention to try the stuff and not beg for the Naruto yaoi edition bento box!

P.S. I had sex with your mom.
