Vidya game (WoW) connection issues

So occasionally (about 40% of the time) whenever I release after dying on a boss enounter, I will get disconnected and when I try to log in it will say "character not found" or "a character with that name already exists" this can last anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes and puts a damper on my ability to raid, while I've tried just getting someone to ressurect me, sometimes I die in inconvenient places and then I have to get mass ressed, or if I have the debuff, have to wait for it to run off, and sometimes when I try to zone into or out of an instance, or use my hearth stone, or even whenever I head into a cross realm zone "I get transfer aborted, instance not found" while this can usually be fixed by just rolling into the portal instead of running, it gets annoying when my heart gets put on cooldown and I'm stuck somewhere like inside of the hyjal raid. The wierdest part is that this only happens on my home internet, and doesn't happen when I'm in my dorm room, but being home for thanksgiving has made this problem arise again, and my month long christmas break will probably be more stressful than relaxing if this keeps happening. has anyone had this problem and knows a way to solve this?

tl;dr sometimes get transfer aborted instance not found, and sometimes I get locked out of the game when I release, this only happens at home and not at college, what do?

1: Go to your router's web user interface (WUI), probably either http://192.168.1.1/ or http://192.168.0.1/ (if neither work try https)
2: You will be prompted for a username and password. The username is probably admin (if not try root). Possible passwords: admin, admin1, Admin, Admin1, password, password1, Password, Password1. If none of those work, look at the stickers on your router, it's probably on there somewhere.
3: UPDATE THE FIRMWARE! Warning: your router might reboot afterwards, so make sure no one is using the internet.
4: Go through the settings. Modify fields that you understand. Make your router better.

Use DD-WRT to install Linux on your router.
You should have already done this

Don't change these.
