Creating a file on another computer...

Name: Anonymous 2012-04-26 21:31

OK, I'm at my wit's end here and I'm certain I'm only missing a tiny detail to make this work.

I've created a program that runs on a Ubuntu JBoss application server.  It outputs to location /mnt/mydropfolder/, which is mounted on //server/machinefile.  The mount was done using an smb_credentials file in which I setup the credentials as "mytestuser" for both the username and password.

On "server", a Windows 2008 Server machine, I created this user.

The folder "machinefile" has been set up with both the share and the NTFS permissions as Full Control to Everyone.  For test purposes of course.

So, in theory, the file generation should be dandy.  Only it is not: I get a Permission Denied error.

And I can't fucking figure out why.

I attempted to create a test file manually into the mounted folder using the console, still no go - so it's not my program at fault, it's strictly a permission issue.

Even if I explicitly give Full Control permissions to "mytestuser", it doesn't do the trick.  Remounting didn't solve the problem.  I know I got that to work on another machine before... but this was three years ago, and I forgot how I set the damn thing up.

What am I doing wrong here?

Don't change these.
