Any way to ressurect my new harddrive?

Hi, i recently bought a nifty little 500GB harddrive for one of my laptops and just a day ago i accidentally dropped the laptop with the new 500gig harddrive in it, i did a lazy screwjob for the back of the laptop so the back casing of the laptop fell off and my HD was exposed. I hoped that it would be ok, but shit no. The laptop just acts as if there's no HD, not even a clicking sound or anything. Is there anything i can do myself without calling up some repair company?
