Seagate 500gb hard drive beeping

Seagate 500gb hard drive beeping when connected to computer. It won't be recognized or anything. Should I open it up and see what's wrong or what?

What do you mean by "beeping"? Are you sure it's not the little onboard speaker in the motherboard?

No, it's the  hard drive. It makes a little Beeping sound. It lights up and every couple of seconds it just beeps.

I would say the chip inside is fried (I had this happen to a Seagate of mine) and to fix it, you're going to have to get another one the exact model and swap the guts. Is it a Barracuda by any chance?

Nah, it's a Desk Top Classic (Wasn't classic when I bought it).
I opened the plastic case (warranty was void anyways and With some gentle shaking I heard what sound like something is loose inside of it.

Seems like either way, it's fucked.

Just took a closer look, turns out it's a barracuda 7200.11
Guess I'm getting a western digital tomorrow. Unless you guys have any kind of saving throws I'd be willing to try.

western digital
That's what I got after mine went. So far it's been working well. I'd avoid Seagate, seems like they've been making shitty drives lately that either the onboard chip fries, or the disk itself fucks up. Which is a shame because I liked Seagate

Don't change these.
