Computer Building Advice? (newfag here)

So- I'm planning on building a computer- I wont be adding to it every year.  It'll be a multi-purpose computer-- gaming and browsing (ie I'll use it whenever I'm home and wont need my laptop). 
I would greatly respect you opinion on:
-Dual Monitors (yes/no/am I a faggot?)
-What processor type? (Single/Dual/Quad (yes i've read that forum))
-Video Card family? what is worth the money and what isn't?

once I have some input ill make a test rig and ask you guys to take a look at it if that is acceptable.
