Was wondering if anybody knew how to run a linux flavor specifically ubuntu or mandriva to crack WEP in virtualbox

you'll have troubles because you don't get a direct line to the wifi. There is a fake internet line from your os to virtual box essentially.

I recommend getting Back Track 4 on a cd and booting from that, then use startx to get to your happy little desktop and run the aircrack series. careful bout legalities in your state and only do it on your own router or at least spoof your mac.

also there a lot of other fun tools on that cd
