Boot Up Problems

found an abandoned comp. average specs for average person. problem is that when it starts up it only shows the dell logo and goes black. no windows logo. do i have to reinstall an OS?

I would

extract hdd, install on another comp as a slave (in case of it not being sata) and look for porns and personal info, then put it back on old pc and install OS.

already slaved it, was a nigger comp (go figure)nothing useful/interesting on it. thanks doods.
