OSx86 BIOS settings

Name: !!1EAJySs3SN2/jmM 2010-05-30 17:41

How easy is it to install OSX alongside Windows (and maybe even ubuntu) on my machine? According to the lifehacker guide, I need to change some BIOS settings, and I just find messing with the BIOS a little daunting and I could use some help. :/

Thanks in advance.

OS X uses EFI, not the traditional BIOS.

Why?

I don't know why. That's what Apple decided upon when they switched to x86. I don't know too much about the Hackintosh scene, but I believe you need some sort of boot tools or something to emulate EFI to be able to boot and install OS X. Try asking in the InsanelyMac forums http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ and the IRC channel #osx86 @ moofspeak

Also, why would you want to install Ubuntu and OS X? OS X is Unix-like and should run nearly everything that is POSIX compliant.

as far as i know, you need a pendrive that emulates the mac bios so it would be: your machine boots pendrive first and then the pendrive boots hard drive with osx in it.

Don't change these.
