The universal answer is Tor, or some sort of proxy. Otherwise, on many networks you can get cloaks to hide your whois.

You could run a bouncer or something like that. It will allow you to do such things. Most modern IRC networks allow you to do this built in.

For your "city", or state, you can make yourself a vhost to mask your hostname. To do that enter in /msg HostServ request my.new.silly.vhost and then an IRCOP will grant that to you, provided it meets Rizon's vhost criteria.

As for "knowing" your client, they can get that through CTCP VERSION requests. You'll have to consult your client's documentation on how to mask that if you'd like to do so. Nobody can get your IP address except for maybe IRCOPs and maybe channel OPs, but I'm sure about the latter.

To make a secure connection I think Rizon does support connections through SSL, but I never used that, so I wouldn't know anything about that.

Your IP/hostname only shows for yourself on whois. Others won't be able to see it.

In addition, hostnames are automatically spoofed. You don't need to apply for a vhost to stay safe.

hey /b/rothers im having a problem with my toshiba satellite its running on 32 bit vista and when i go to boot it up it gets past the initial toshiba screen but an error loads shortly after
"windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer. this error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an usb .... or faulty hardware... blah blah.

info: an unexpected I\O error has occured"
then upon pressing enter to accept the message and continue the computer reboots back through the toshiba screen and goes black for a moment then the same error comes up. i would greatly appreciate the assistance in solving this problem
