Good idead, Bad Idea?

There is this old system I have currently running XP. Now don't go trolling I'm a linux fag but this system in particular needs to be running windows so....

Anyway, this friend of mine (the reason it's running windows) thought it would be great to install 7. Now given the specs

32bit processor 1.8 OC to 2.21Ghz
1024+256MB ram
128mb GeForce 5200

I'm afraid it would run horribly slow given win is a resource hog and it runs almost stable in XP. What do you think /comp/? Should I?

I dont really see any real benefit to 7 besides the prettiness. It may be a resource hog as you say so i'd stick with XP.

I have win 7 running on a acer aspire one (Intel Atom 1.6 GHz, 1.5 GB ram) with no problems.

Same here. I'll stick with XP pro for the foreseeable future. I used 7 on a friend's newly bought PC and it was lovely.

7 = basically vista perfected.
(We all know what a retardfest vista was)

Your hardware should run just fine with 7.

I'd say the DX supports if you play games, also it is really much easier and user friendly. (offcourse big-time XP users will be bothered at first but that always happen)

I agree. But I have used Vista with Vlite and it actually wasn't too bad. It cuts out a lot of the fluff and crap with Vista. But yeah, you're better off with 7.

Don't change these.
