how can i hook up my laptop to display the output of a desktop as the desktop is booting up?

i have a collection of desktop towers, but not a monitor to speak of. i'd rather not have to purchase one (regardless of how cheap they are) so i was going to try using my laptop as a display, maybe in a virtual terminal of some sort.

You can't.

as it's booting, no. But XDMCP or VNC will let you do a remote desktop.

get the schematics for the lcd driver board and wire a vga connector. possible but probably a waste of time/laptop
