SSD and video editing

Would storing files on a SSD drive make editing easier? I doubt it would since, as an experiment, I've daisy chained four hard drives into a RAID 0. The results were disappointing to say the least, so I went back to using just two drives in a RAID 0. Of course, to be fair, the problem with SATA is the moving parts, where with SSD, it's all on a chip. Would a 32GB SSD drive be worth the investment, or should I just save up?

use Obligatory::Lecture;

RAID 0 is not RAID
Take the performance hit and use real RAID (at least RAID 1, % if you can). Data integrity should be your first concern, you can always do RAID 10 if you need speed, but meh

Fine...then call it stripping. Whatever you decide to call it we know what is being talked about, and that is the important part. Anyway RAID really has nothing to do with this thread aside from current implementation of two drives. As for redundancy...I don't need it. All the files needed are backed up elsewhere, so if one of the drives go caput, big deal. The two RAID drives basically act as a scratch disc for editing anyway, so redundancy has zero amount of importance.

Stated for the second time now what is important is speed, and lots of it. I need to know if by using a decent SSD (minimum read speed of 150MB) would that do the job better than two stripped HDDs?

SSD is great if you need low latency, but if you're doing encoding as well then sustained throughput is probably more important, that means stripping. You can get a pair of 16 GB SSDs pretty cheap these days, strip those.
