Rebuilding my comp...

Name: Anonymous 2009-05-21 16:27

Evening comp, I've got a comp that's been out of action for a good few years - my mobo exploded and I haven't had the money to replace it.

I've just come into a bit of money, and I've been wanting to spend as little money as possible and re-use as many of my components as possible, so I was after some advice.

I've got two sticks of 1gb pc2700 DDR ram, a P4 3.0ghz, and a 512 old ati card - can't do shader 2.0

I'm probably going to buy this -> http://hornet.microdirect.co.uk/(18045)Asrock-motherboard-4Core-DualSATA-II-LGA775.aspx
and this GPU -> http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?NOV-4350

Advice? Anything else I should buy instead?
My other half wants to play sims 3 so I need to be able to run at at least..

Thanks in advance!

Make sure it can fit in the case and that most if not all of the usable components can work on that motherboard and make sure that the components that you are replacing can work on that one as well which you can ask some one who works for the company can tell if it will work but be open-minded as that may not work and you may need to get an older version like the broken one (which can be very difficult) and try to get a manual in english and doesn't look like it's written by a third-grader in the event of something going wrong with it.

Don't change these.
