p35 good enough for basic PC?

Name: Anonymous 2009-02-02 21:52

I'm thinking about getting an p35 based board to go with a e5200  but being an older chip I'm not sure if it's a good idea.

Should I spend the extra $$ and get a p43 or higher?

I just want this PC for net browsing and maybe some light encoding duties (no HD.)

What do you think /comp/??

P35 ain't that old a chip. Go for it.

I have a P35 board in my system, it works fine, the motherboard needs to be replaced because I killed the memory controller, but the chipset itself I have had no problems with.

Don't change these.
