Name: Anon 2009-02-01 2:27

OK Guys so here is the thing. I'm going to take my certs, but first i want to have a decent computer so i can study and research easily. I want to build a quad core, and  quad booting system. Here are the my suggestions i need help ideas and general bullshit. Oh and i want to do this for under 500 dollars.

1. Well of course i want to boot from Linux, iATKOS v2.0i(tiger), Vista, and XP.  I'm thinking of doing this by 1 500 Gb external, or if i can from 1 80 Gb internal and 3 external 40gb Drives with Usb hard drive dock. Not sure which would be more convent. Need thoughts on that.

2. I want a quad core system, i'm thinking the phenom becuase of price issues. I need suggestions on Mobos and ram. i want to get 4 Gb ram on 64 bit systems of ocurse. Any way to get the Phenom, Mobo, and ram in a package for under 300 would be great.

4. I dont need a great graphics card as i dont game much. But i do need on that will support s-video out or similar.

So just drop suggestions and shit plz. ^_^ i've tryed tiger direct, and newegg and dozens of other sites, but i want opinions on what to get.

*facepalm*

First off, what certifications are you going for? Let me know and I'll recommend some books for you. I would assume you're going to start with the CompTIA A+? Get it first, then you won't need to ask these questions. You don't need anything special to study on, ffs. Usually just a CD drive, if there's interactive material. It should only take a month or two of study, tops.

Second, Linux is one thing, but you don't need OSx86. You're not ready for it. Period. It requires a serious amount of knowledge and maintenance. Without apparently any UNIX background, I'd bet you won't even be able to get it installed properly. Anyway, if you intend to install OSx86 on it eventually, you should get a supported Intel system. AMD would just add a whole mess of unnecessary problems. Check the HCLs for parts before buying anything.

I'm doing the A+ cert first of course. i'm basically using all online materiel. I have everything that Thepiratebay.com has to offer and anything else i could find on the internets.I'm already studying, and it looks like most of A+ core is common sense. So i dont think it will take a month at max. But here's my email in case you have some tips or anything.   Maximum_security@hotmial.com

Well i have install Linux and my knowledge of it is minimal at best, I have installed OSx86 installed on a desktop but that is because of a very nice tutorial i found online.

Also third i am very loyal to AMD, i have a deep seeded hate toward intel, partly because of there prices and partly because the only intel based system i have ever own has more problems then a black waiter at a clans meeting (sorry if i offend).

I was just more less wanting some advice on the different combination one could make with the phenom, mobo, and ram on a 64 bit system.

Thanx you though for your message, and suggestions. Even the facepalm made me laugh for a second. ^_^

Don't change these.
