Fingerprint readers

Aside from Upek what other types of fingerprint readers will work on a 64-bit OS?

Why do you care? They're all worthless anyway. Even $$$$$ readers can be fooled by lifting prints off a glass with play-doh. I wouldn't even trust them as part of a multi-factor authentication plan. Only retarded CSI fans are impressed with biometrics.

They are different types of devices; the one your thinking about is the one with a pane of glass that you press your finger on. The one I'm talking about are just a small strip that you must swipe your finger across. Yes, that does make things harder, but seriously; even if you could get someone's print from play-doh, or used a piece of tape to get it, it's going to be hard to successfully swipe it across a little strip without marring said prints.

Here's the fingerprint reader I used that just recently bit the dust. It was destroyed during a power outage. :(

Also, for me, I don't have to worry about people logging into the computer; it's more because of laziness. If you got a bunch of user IDs and passwords, this makes things a lot more simpler to use. Brings up the website, enters your information, and even hits enter for you; all at the swipe of a finger.

As for security; credit cards and the like are the only things I can think of, and as for those, it's usually those who try and hack into your computer. Unlike micro$ucks fingerprint reader (32-bit only) which does not use encryption, Upek does, and while, yes, encryption can be thwarted, it does make things harder. In short, for personal stuff, you don't enter anything in clear text + the website uses it's own encryption, so a little security is involved; still convince is everything know-a-day. That's why I'm trying to find other (good) fingerprint readers that are 64-bit compatible.
