Gaming Laptop?

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-18 1:34

I'm in the market for a laptop but I don't know anything about the hardware these days (still using a tank I built like 6 years ago and have NOT kept up with this shit these days). What exactly am I looking for? Obviously I'm trying to spend as little as possible, and I just want something that will play current gen games well (so later on it'll play new games adequately and then in the further future play just-barely-good-enough like my current box is fairing today).  I'm hoping to get something I can find on Best Buy since I have a large giftcard left over from christmas to cover some of the cost.

for example, would http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9163861&type=product&id=1218040477075 be a decent machine?

just to be clear, I want something that will play your average game (i dunno, say TF2 or Spore) these days on mid-high settings without any signifigant chugging. I don't need (or want to shell out for) something to play 48xAA hyperbloom 2000x1500 150fps etc etc. just something on the upside of 'good enough' for current games that will continue to be good enough for the near future

laptop gaming is expensive. Get something with at least an 8600GT mobile equivalent. Otherwise it will be even more expensive when you replace it in six months.

Don't change these.
