Hay guise.
My laptop's hard drive is running hotter than usual, and SMART tests do not return any errors. In your experience, has a sudden increase in temperature preceded a hard drive failure?
Some info to consider:
Hottest when idle (summertime):
Room temp: 78F
HD temp: 52C
Because it's been cold as balls lately...
Before today:
Room temp 70F
HD temp: 46C
And suddenly today:
Room temp 70F
HD temp: 55C
I'm at a loss for what could cause the sudden jump in temperature. The laptop's physical position has not changed, and the load of the drive has not increased.
