Installing New Power Supply

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-23 20:00

I read on a guide that if you install a new power supply you have to re-install your operating system!? Other guides don't mention it and I am a confused noob. HELP!

Why would you need to reinstall your OS after replacing the power supply? The OS resides on your hard drive, this doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

You can successfully replace your power supply without worrying about the effects it may have on your operating system (because there won't be any).

Well, actually, if you have a motherboard that supports both AT and ATX style PSUs, and switch types, you would have to reinstall, due to switching from ACPI to non-ACPI HAL's and what not.

you do need to delete your system32 folder as it contains references to your old psu and will cause critical system errors etc if you don't

Lol...

Also this is false, just replace it and you are fine... As long as you are talking about the box you put the plug into... right?

Don't change these.
