Google Reader - old entries problem

If you want to check older updates you need to keep scrolling down.... As you know some sites have hundreds of updates per day so going back one month can take forever. When you finally get there it's enough to click another feed and your position is lost forever ...need to start doing the scrolling again.

Is there anything out there that would help with making this less painful?

Or can you recommend a better RSS feed reader?

All the ones I tried seem to be inferior to Google Reader.

Thanks... but the first link you pasted is just shortcuts to common actions, it doesn't answer my question at all.

The soft in second link works only in CLI ie no pictures, no mp3 or video streaming in the preview (like on Google Reader) ie nada.
