Sub notebook

Can anyone with some hands on experiance with the Asus EEE computers give me some input on them, which one around 700-900 is probly a good buy. I can spend whatever but on a review for a 900, someone mentioned the 700 being a bit better. I am just looking to buy a very small laptop and EEE was the first i have seen, so if anyone can recommend anything from another company that may be worth it to check out. Any help appreciated.

Small laptops are pointless. You can't really do anything with the tiny screen, and unless you're a girl, the weight saving isn't going to get you that much more portability. The dimensions are still too big to fit in your pocket, so you'll have to use a bag anyway, and at that point the bulk difference isn't going to be that significant either.

In conclusion, I have no idea why people want these sub notebooks, except maybe for some misguided perception that they'll look cool owning one.

the eee pc 70x is fantastic. it's tiny, it's fast FOR WHAT IT DOES, there's a big community modding it, there's a bunch of different linuxes for it, or you can install winxp.

the keys are a bit small.

the fan is noisy on some machines.

these teeny laptops only make sense if they are a: Fucking tiny and b: Cheap, which is why I recommend the 70x over 90x.  If you have extra money you either want a normal laptop (big, heavy) or a UMPC (tiny, expensive)

I'm European and I prefer a proper laptop over a subnotebook. We aren't all fat weaklings who can't even carry around a laptop without getting sweaty and weak in the knees.

My 901 is good and fast. Read around and see if it will do what you want, there are newer UMPC's now with different prices and features. I found that searching youtube helped me out a lot when comparing, you might want to try that too.
