My sisters laptop got fucked up and she got a new one. Im pretty sure the hard drive is dead. im sure she dropped it or something. Anyway i can see the error message because it does that auto restart thing and theres a password on the bios. what is the best way to reset/find/crack the bios password?

Read the manual that comes with the laptop. They usually document the procedure to reset the BIOS.
Depends on the laptop. If it's a Dell ~4 years or newer, or a computer less than 2 years old then taking out the RTC battery won't do the trick. On laptops, because of the naturally unstable power source, the BIOS and it's subsequent passwords are stored on a chip that doesn't lose settings when there is a loss of power. The chip literally has to be shocked (flashed) to clear out the settings. There is a tool to do it safely but it's pretty expensive. Instructions to do it yourself can be found on the net by the model number of the laptop with "removing bios password". Be warned though, doing so manually can irreparably damage the logic board and render the computer useless so do at your own risk.
