Microsoft NET framework

So in my add or remove programs window, I have 8 different NET frameworks ranging from 1.0 to 3.5.

Can I remove all of them but the highest? or does 3.5 require that I have 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 2.0 hotfix and 3.0 to work properly?

It would make more sense if you removed all of them except the ones you need though...

3.x includes 2.x, but not 1.x.  So keep 3.x and 1.x.

Hmmm, I tried to removed 2.0 but it wouldn't let me...
