Sup /comp/,
I've been wondering for some time now:
When I burn a DVD (or a friend does, it doesn't seem to depend on the writer), I can only read it on a DVD writer, not on a regular DVD drive (tried one on my laptop bought in 2003 and one on a computer from 2001 or something).
Is this:
[ ] Always the case (replace the regular drive by a writer, cheapass)
[ ] Sometimes the case (hardware is too old to read the media, or the DVDs I use fail)
[ ] Because I fuck up the writing
[ ] Profit
I use TDK DVD-R media: I never had a problem with TDK and AFAIK, DVD-R maximizes compatibility.
It's not a big deal since I never found a DVD writer that couldn't read them so my data is safe, but it's annoying to have to transfer it from my desktop to my laptop using a network share.
