Anons Password

I just came up with a new password that is twenty characters long (ten letters and ten numbers alternating). I don't plan on using it for everything, just a few things I care the most about. Is this retarded or smart?

It's alright. Crackers that intend on applying brute force techniques to try to crack that password would take lifetimes to get a solution under current hardware. The biggest problem would be you forgetting that password. Personally, I use passphrases as they're much easier to remember and are adequately strong against brute force techniques.
