Freeeeeezing Hard Drive

Name: Moron 2008-02-20 7:00

Hello. I need some advice on what could be wrong with one of my hard drives. I say one because the other hard drive that's running windows xp is functioning properly, but my other hard drive I use for storage has problems writing large amounts of data at once.
Like over 80GB or something. Whether I'm downloading a large "rar" file to the hard drive, or copying files from one hard drive to this one, it will always write the data slowly and always end up freezing before it finishes.
I've even tried defragmenting and it froze at 27%!

So what do you think? is it a piece of crap hard drive? should I try replacing the sata cable? Thanks

Transplant the hd into another computer. That way you can rule out if the hd is faulty.

Use a real filesystem. NTFS is niggers.

Oh, I thought this was a reference to placing the hard drive in the freezer to boost performance.  Try that.

What if you put it in a sealed container after drying it somehow?

Well if you can manage to connect it to your controller through that air tight container of yours, more power to you.
