Monitor-Problems

For starters, I'll give the basic trouble I'm running into. When I boot up my PC, the monitor... doesn't do shit. The monitor-light turns orange, which indicates that the monitor KNOWS that it's plugged into SOMETHING.

The strangest part of the mess is that I had everything running smoothly for a few days, but then the monitor stopped receiving signals again after I moved the setup to another room of my house. I'm using the very same monitor that isn't displaying anything on a different PC so that I can post this message!

If this isn't a garden-variety problem with a general solution, here's the specs; eMachine (model T3516), with a nVidia GeForce 6200 LE graphics-card.

If you unplug the monitor completely and turn it on, the orange LED will probably also be lit, so that doesn't mean anything else but "No signal".

Does the computer also have an on board graphics chip?

Yeah.. best bet would be to change out the graphics card. as your monitor works an a different PC then the monitor is fine... swap out the graphics card for something else. If the monitor still isn't working then your PC is fucked. If the monitor works with the new graphics card then... guess What! your graphics card is fucked!

If your sure everything is OK with the graphics card, turn on the monitor and shine a flash light on the screen. If you see output (i.e. desktop, post) then your power board is out. happens when you buy cheap flat screens(assuming you have a flat screen)
