Report function.

If I click the exclaimation point and report a thread for either reason, does that thread become blocked from my view or are the mods just really fast at reviewing reported threads and hosing the offenders?  I reported a few threads and when I refreshed the page a few mintues later they were gone.  I was impressed, but as per this thread, I have some doubts about the system.  Can anyone educate me on this matter?

Some mod probably noticed the thread before you reported it and was in the process of deleting it while you were reporting. Thus the thread was already gone when you refreshed.
