Windows sounds et al.

My laptop's sound system is not functioning as it should. It can play music files and the sound present in some vidya, however there is none in other things.

For example, Windows sounds no longer play at all. Macromedia Flash animations are soundless. Some video games don't have sound.

I tried uninstalling my soundcard driver and then reinstalling the one that came with the computer to no avail.

Is there anything that can be done without reinstalling Windows and such?

Dunno, ask someone who actually uses Windows.

Try checking your volume settings.

Install Linux then you won't have to reinstall windows
