promise sata, ide mode, k9a2 platinum

Hi all, I have a k9a2 platinum motherboard, and I am trying to install drives in the promise sata plugs, but I am unable to make the promise controller run the drives in IDE (non raid) mode. I cannot find any option in either the motherboard bios or the promise 'ctrl-f' bios to change it from raid.
