attempting to recover crashed drive

Name: Digi 2008-01-04 21:16

out of ideas and looking for help.  my 250 GB NTFS seagate lost its index file due to an unknown crash.  windows chkdsk tries to recover but does not have enough room, the drive was full before the crash.  i have working XP and Ubuntu systems so either system could be used to fix drive.  just need to get into drive to recover music and anime to new Baracudas.

thanks,

 Digi

NTFS is about as proprietary as it gets. If you do manage to find a recovery tool, you're probably going to have to pay for it. Maybe you should ask Microsoft for help (teh heh).

hopefully it can help

if it's a second drive and you have windows on another drive use getdataback for ntfs and select the option for systematic recovery
http://runtime.org/
(needs a serial to copy files, get one at the usual places)

Thank you Anon.

Getback worked
