Virtualize hardware

Name: I 2007-12-17 17:26

I have acomputer available for a short period of time. I will get it back in the near future. Untill then I would like to virtualize the exact hardware with the weird drivers and everything.

This so I can run it with VMware, VirtualPC or Qemu and have the image running on the original hardware when I can.

What do I need to take a "Hardware Snapshot" of the device to use it as Virtual Computer and be able to try different operating systems on it?

That's pretty common. You just need to extract all the firmware code of all the hardware you want to emulate, reverse engineer it and incorporate it into VMWare as virtual hardware. Or something.

How about i just get a list of drivers, would that work?

Don't change these.
