that's like asking which car is the best and why. you need to be more specific, otherwise all your responses will be completely subjective

1. Linux is great if you don't depend on anything proprietary. This would include games, other various programs, computing hardware, and file formats and protocols.
2. Linux is great if you are willing to spend a bit of time, effort or even money to learn about the ways of a system that is not Windows.
3. Go read the dozens of Linux and Ubuntu books that are around.
4. Dual boot Windows and Ubuntu. Ya rly. There's little reason why you can't have both on your computer.
5. Whenever you can, try to look past the hype.

GNOME is a desktop environment, Enlightenment is a window manager. It's possible to use Enlightenment with GNOME.
Learn the fucking difference, Ubuntufag.

>>14 >>15 is not >>13, but some of us (me for instance), prefer to just run the window manager. I hate every DE I've ever tried, so I use straight Enlightenment or Fluxbox, personally.

Tom's Window Manager, of course using kwrite. Vim is not appropriate for more than editing your profile.

I use KDE. It does what I want it to, and I didn't like gnome.
It's just subjective really. XFCE is okay too.
