How do I get a dialup adapter to show up

Name: Sol 2007-09-22 10:14 ID:X5oO4vFp

Continuing faggotry from a while back.

Summary of whats going on:

Fresh install of XP on a new harddrive results in only getting dialup connection speeds of exactly 28kbps. The problem lies on this computer and not the phone line, 'cause I was able to reach connection speeds of around 37kbps on another computer a few feet away from this one while using the same exact access number.

The problem [as previously talked about in a past thread] seems to lie in the absence of a dialup adapter, which appeared in the device manager on the other computer, and not this one.

So... how do I get the dialup adapter to show up in device manager?

I've never trusted the drivers that come with Windows much. Why don't you try installing the latest driver for your modem and work from there?

That was the first thing I did. Modem already has updated driver.

I forgot to mention one crucial detail about that. The other modem I was refering to is on its last legs, and was hit by lightning. Not to mention it's not mine to switch anyway.

Do you know how terrific broadband coverage is in the US? That's right, it's the land flowing with truckloads of tubes that are able to dump megalitres of email right into your computer.
