Motherboard is dead

motherboard is dead.. my comp wont turn on at all. Computer place is charging me 248 for board and 55 for an hour for labor plus 90 to look at it. Is it a fair price or should i get a new one?

A replacement desktop is probably $400 to $500 for the low end.  You're paying $400 to get yours repaired.  I'd say you have to consider any differences in computer capability before taking such an action.  Note you still owe the $90, so you're into the repair side for that much so far.

In future you might want to look into building your own pc. It really isn't difficult and you'll save a lot of money, in my opinion $130 to install a new motherboard, assuming the old one is fucked and its not some other minor issue is a bit much. It takes like ten minutes.

I couldn't really tell you if its a fair price without all the info about your pc though.
