virus or hardware problem?

my laptop at home is on the fritz right now and im not sure what exactly the problem is. it has trouble turning on and when i manage to turn it on, after a while the computer freezes at unholy levels (can't move mouse or hit control alt del). I dont know if my virus software is out of date or whatever but it hasnt been able to find anything. please help i dont feel like paying geeksquad to look at my lappy for five minutes and then say "im sorry we can't do shit unless you pay us a fortune" im pretty sure someone here has a good guess whats wrong

Bad RAM was also suggested. Try using MemTest32.

I doubt it's a virus. Possibly bad RAM or a your motherboard fucking up.
