Ok, I was performing an upgrade install so I could set everything back to default without losing all my nifty start menu files and registry values.
Startup XP, insert XP disc, choose upgrade, get warning about axx4i55s.sys missing but telling me it's ok to continue but only recommended advanced users choose to do so, choose skip file, reboot, continue with ugrade, get message about axx4i55s.sys is missing install failed press key to restart.
Google gives me this info:
Your search - axx4i55s - did not match any documents.
Suggestions:
Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
Try different keywords.
Try more general keywords.

Any ideas? Is this file like Hal and unique for each machine or could I simply copy it over from another machine? And what the heck is this file anyhow?
