Just set up DSL for the first time. In the setup a static IP was set up in Networking along with preferred and alternate DNS servers.
Now I'm told Qwest dynamically assigns IP's and if I want to use a POP3/SMTP address for email I must pay for a static IP address.
My question is can I log off Qwest, log back on and get an new numeric IP?

it depends on the isp. they can theoretically allocate you a dynamic ip but assign the same ip in practise
I like dynamic IPs more.. makes it hard for sites to ban you when you can turn off your modem and get a new one. If they ban the whole set of IPs, then email them pretending to be someone else who was unfairly banned.
