Direct X / 3D

i Wipe my computer and start over every few months or so and move my stuff to an external, but the last time i did something must have gone wrong when i installed dirext x. everytime i try to play a game that requires 3d or other stuff ect. it tells me there is an error with my driect 3D or direct x,
and yes ive tried reinstalling from the site
is there a way to fix this without wiping my computer again?
