Portable HDs

Name: Anonymous 2007-08-15 0:42 ID:wqfvR+36

I'm looking into a new portable HD, are there any good quality durable ones that have 500gig or a 1t for a decent price, and by decent I mean 300-500 bucks.

Lulz, you can buy a 500GB HDD for ~$120 and an external enclosure for like $20. Don't waste your money on so-called "portable drives".

We shouldn't be so quick to dismiss those small, portable USB hard drives.  They have small cases that are usually rubberized, are USB powered, and run cool and quietly.  For the money, you do get desirable features.  Cheap fucks like me don't care for those features, true, but others do.

At least someone answered without scathing cynicism, maybe I didnt word my question correctly. I was talking about brands not about whether or not to buy one, and Redcream is correct. The cases for portable hds are much nicer than the cases you can buy to put an HD in to make it an external.

As if ebay the fucking disaster area of sales is even worth looking at. I'm not going to pay for a broken down piece of shit HD that someone is trying to pawn off as new.

flash drives != "portable" drives

Although they are portable, that is not the correct term to use.

im not sure where to buy, but my friend has an ide to usb converter cable. u have to plug the hd into a wall outlet, but basicly, any internal can be used as an external.
