BSD is for fags. Linux or GTFO.
In before macfags and BSD fags and people saying shit about Linux, and people saying shit about people who say shit about Linux, and shit about me, and every meme in existence, infinity +1 squared.

There is nothing wrong with BSD it is more unixlike than linux, and I cant dual boot 2 oses if i have windows xp filling up the ENTIRE harddisk, i could theoretically download a partition resizer but so far i havent found a good one and i dont want to download a whole knoppix live cd

Can't you add another hard disk to the system? They're cheap as fuck, especially when you get the older ones, like a 20 or 40GB. Just install another hard disk, grub/lilo the first one, and then load BSD (or some LinFaggotry) onto the 2nd hard disk, ext3 and all.
Listen to poster #2. It IS easy. And we'd be happy to assist you (except the Hanssen script, which from the source code I have, seems intentionally constipated and has a high hate level set as a constant).

Arch Linux, because Solaris is mostly communityless fail, as is Free/Open/NetBSD
PC-BSD which is easier to use than 99% of Linux distros.

Well, I use Gentoo. So? I don't see any problem. I embraced my Gentoo distro long ago and I am happy together with my workstation (that is a stage 1 box!). I have a fucking lot of ebuilds in and outside of portage and my CFLAGS are pretty optimized and solid.
But thanks anyway asshole. Go and use your stupid Debian while I EMERGE new ebuilds

I don't use an operating system. My old computer has a machine language monitor built in and any time I want the computer to do something I write an assembly program real quick and use BIOS calls. Sometimes when I'm feeling raucous I'll write my programs down, but only on rare occasions.

For what do you need a Fibre Channel Adapter? Why using that ancient ATI card instead a new one? Aren't there PCI-X cards using powerful chips?
Name:
Anonymous2007-08-10 5:32 ID:fyAH9dPn
#19:
Fibre Channel: It came with it and an HD (was from an aunction), I don't need a bigger HD for now but in the future I'll probably get a cheap SATA/IDE external box with firewire and USB and just put a SATA big HD there, being able to plug it to the blade with firewire or to my desktop with usb2. I could also get a PCI SATA interface, but I go with whatever is more versatile for the money.
Why using that ancient ATI card: Because, sadly, the XVR-1000 it has (which used to be a quite high end UPA card with 256mb texture memory and 72mb fb memory, dedicated, and it's BIG, believe me) has zero support on Linux, thanks to no specs. So to use it I'd have to boot solaris. Since this is my server box and I had that card... I put it so this way I can at least run X decently.
Aren't there...: Yes, there are infinite things out there, but my budget is limited.

3 desktops running 32-bit WinXP SP2 home
2 laptops running i686 Gnome Linux, one of which also has XP (dual-booting)
I've tried other OSes but I like Gnome and XP the best. With OS X 10 (which I tried on someone else's computer) doing simple tasks like browsing the internet or trying to play a media file were slow and could even invoke kernel panics...

XP for the most part, but i have Ubuntu on a hard drive i can just connect for when my Windows drive dies. Linux is a wonderful rescue platform.
When i finally get another computer (i'm waiting to get a free one from whoever's having a chuck out), i'll hopefully try out UbuntuStudio, which looks like a laugh.
I also have a laptop currently running FreeBSD, which is purely as a learning experience. It had DSLinux on it until last week.
